April writing challenge

There is something exhilarating in committing yourself to smashing out a huge writing project in a short time frame.

This April I've decided to commit once again to Camp NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), though instead of working on a novel I'm aiming to do 30 poems in 30 days, which means I'm also committing to NaPoWriMo (if you didn't guess it, this means National Poetry Writing Month). NaNoWriMo is the crazily fun but intense challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in a month (November). My first year doing NaNoWriMo (2017) went really well. I exceeded the word target and it felt great to get so much of a novel onto a page, but I was far from finishing the story. My NaNoWriMo attempt in 2018 was pretty bad. Life got out of hand and I didn't get much done.
Camp NaNoWriMo is similar. You have 30 days in April to achieve some writing goal, though this time it doesn't have to be a 50,000 word novel. You can make it fewer words, a different form of writing, editing... it's up to you. Last April I did another 50,000 words for a novel (my goal was to have a finished story but again I failed... I just can't seem to finish things).
NaPoWriMo, as I recently found out, is the poetry equivalent where the goal is to produce a poem a day over 30 days in April.
I haven't quite decided how I will do NaNo/NaPo yet. Should I stick to a theme or challenge myself with a random subject each day? Should I use a consistent style? Hmm... decisions.
If you're participating in either Camp NaNp or NaPoWriMo and want a writing buddy, let me know in the comments (or contact me on the NaNoWriMo website, username: parhelion8) or tell us what your project is about.
